Focused Strategy and Service Implementation

A more detailed examination of the strategy and proposed services.  Accept clarifying questions from the floor concerning plan and service details, but not problems and issues (these will be resolved in the following session).

New Strategy Discussion and Questions
(Breakouts – Module III)

1.      Discuss and enumerate concerns and questions about the new strategy and its implementation.

2.      Discuss and enumerate general issues facing the company that could impact implementation of the strategy.

1:30pm- 3:00pm

Questions and Concerns
(Group discussion lead by Facilitator)

Appointed member of each group will present the group’s issues for general discussion.

Values and Behaviors Review
(Values Facilitator)

Values Facilitator will introduce the need for company values and behaviors, including the mechanisms and methodology for how to create those values.

Values and Behaviors Breakout
(Breakouts – Module VI)

Breakout groups will answer the question: What attributes do you want your customers to think about when they think about our company?


4:45pm- 5:15pm

Company Functional Teams
(Group discussion lead by Facilitator)

Group examination and discussion of the organization of the company with the goal of agreeing on the functional teams required for the execution of the strategy.

Functional Team Analysis
(Breakouts – Module VIII)

A multidisciplinary team will be pre-assigned for each function in the company, led by the function leader.  For their assigned function each team will discuss and detail the functions:

·        Responsibilities for the execution of the strategy

·        Interfaces to other functional groups

·        Dependencies on other functional groups

·        Near-term (6 month) milestones and deliverables (descriptions, not dates)

·        Challenges and Obstacles

·        Urgent actions


9:30am - 11:30pm

Functional Team Presentations

(Group discussion lead by Facilitator)

One member of each group will present the six points above for group discussion and agreement.

Case studies of how individual or group actions could undermine the strategy.

Execution of the Strategy
(Group discussion lead by Facilitator)

From the milestones collected in the Functional Team Breakout, the group will jointly develop the milestone calendar for the execution of the strategy.


11:45am – 12:15pm

Group discusses and reviews the meeting goals, concerns, questions and any tabled items to ensure they have been or will be addressed.

1:15pm – 2:45pm

Endstate Review
(Group discussion lead by Facilitator)

Discuss and enumerate what a successful implementation of the strategy will look like: what are the metrics of success?


2:45pm – 3:45pm

Elevator Speech Presentations

Each participant will be given up to 1 minute to recite his or her personalized version of the elevator speech to the group.


3:45pm – 4:00pm

Final Message

            Includes key messages for managers to discuss with staff.
